Hoodlums who came in black hillux van and Honda Civic saloon car have just attacked the polling unit where Dino Melaye voted.
They were reported to have broken one of the boxes and carted away the other, while shooting into the air.
Those who were yet to vote scamper for safety as the thugs arrived the unit.
Information had gotten to the unit that the thugs have attacked the town hall polling unit and carted away the ballot boxes.
Violence also tainted the Bayelsa election some polling stations in the Ogbia area were cancelled following the abduction of an election official and the burning of voting materials.
Voting opened late in most polling stations in the state, with long queues forming in Yenagoa, the state capital, and elsewhere.
In Otuoke, the hometown of former president Goodluck Jonathan, party thugs fought over the late arrival and distribution of voting materials.
Many people were injured amid the fracas.
