By Joey Atuknwa, Ace Entertainment Writer

At the age of 12 he became the music director of the Mt. Rose Baptist Church adult choir.
He uses his songs to give people hope. Franklin, whose parents abandoned when he was a baby, lets people know if God could rescue him, then no one is a lost cause.
At the age of 12 he became the music director of the Mt. Rose Baptist Church adult choir.
In 1992 he formed a 17-member choir known as The Family. A year later they released their debut album, Kirk Franklin & The Family. It was the first gospel music album to sell over a million units.
Due to disagreements within the group, Franklin became a solo artist in 2000. Since then he has sold millions of records, winning multiple awards, including 13 Grammys.
Some have criticized his brand of Gospel and have spoken against his use of secular artists like R. Kelly, Bono, Mary J. Blige, and Salt-N-Pepa. But he says his mission is to “try to reach people, it’s by any means necessary. The purpose is to win them. I spread the word of God through my music, and that’s how souls are won—regardless of where it’s heard.”
He has so many inspirational songs:
*Imagine Me
*My Life Is In Your Hands
*Lean On Me
*Revolution
*Jesus
*Declaration (This Is It)
*I Smile
*Stomp
*Just For Me
*Love Theory
