Daring God To Make Your Efforts Yield Good Fruits (Part 1)

By Pastor Onyema Duruigbo

Sometimes, life presents the most impossible challenges, so much so that the weak in heart crumble under the weight  of such challenges. Nature has bestowed on man shoulders broad enough to bear whatever burdens life can bring. Our arms are long enough to reach the skies and take the very benefits God has bountifully provided. To reach our optimum we must learn to dare.

A teacher came to class one day and dropped a packet of sweets and declared…’whosoever will, let him take it’. There was a scramble, then he stopped the pupils and asked for who bore the name ‘whosoever ‘ to step forward. All the pupils drew back one after another except one. The remaining pupil stood still with tears in his eyes. The teacher asked why he was weeping, he replied that he was the whosoever, and that he was not willing to go except he got the sweets. The teacher obliged him.

In life, success does not exclusively belong to any man. Whosoever dares can and is still entitled to cross the boundaries of failure.

In 2Sam 5:6-10, the Bible tells the story of David and his men. David wanted the city of Jerusalem  desperately , but Jerusalem was a city naturally well fortified. The fortifications made it impregnable. Once his intentions were made known, the original inhabitants…the jebusites mocked him and his courage . They wondered at how a sane man could think of undertaking such ventures.

“Thou shall not come in here:for the blind and the lame are opposed to it, saying David shall not come in here'(2Sam.5:6)

As far as the jebusites were concerned, the blind and the lame are ‘strong’ enough to overrun David’s army. In other words , they did not need to fight because David did not stand any chance.

This is the kind of challenge some don’t take lightly. Winning mindset does not accommodate certain lexicons.

We must understand that  nothing forsters complacency and failure like satisfaction. Once we are comfortable with the status quo , nothing will challenge us to aspire to a greater height. The major limitation to greater achievement in life has been proven over the years to be absence of higher aspirations. When we are seduced to sleep on our laurels, we forget that those awake are reaping from the field of our desire as we snore in our sleepy stupor.
