Incidences of kidnapping continue to feature on the front burners of security challenges in Nigeria with the abduction of six schoolgirls and two of their teachers by gunmen at the Engraver’s College in Kakau Daji, Chikun local government area of Kaduna state.
The bandits were said to have invaded the school around midnight.
Kakau is located along the dreaded Kaduna- Abuja road where kidnapping is rampant.
Spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, Yakubu Sabo, who confirmed the incident said the gunmen invaded the school through the fence.
He said a combined team of police mobile force and anti-kidnapping squad commenced a search for the kidnappers with a view to rescuing the victims and apprehending the culprits.
