How A Fake Video Gone Viral Nearly Ruined By Career-Ago Palace way DPO

If you have been unfortunate like this police officer, who became one of the latest victims of the worrisome menace of fake news, this pathetic story of how a disgruntled offender being quizzed by the Ago Police Station, Lagos, nocturnally videoed a scene where a senior police officer was giving a subordinate money for repair work, and mischievously sent it to a journalist, who in turn made the video go viral in his own post, claiming it was a bribery scene which the station’s DPO was aware of, will attract your sympathy.

We serve you the touching story as told by the Ago Palace Way DPO ,SP Ladi Tarapaya:   

“After assuming office at Ago Palace way Station in Okota,  I discovered that the station had no functional vehicle to enable her operate efficiently, I immediately brought it to the knowledge of the local government chairman of Isolo LGA, who directed that an official letter should be written, to complain about the sad situation.

“The good spirited people of Ago Palace way, had in response to this clarion call, contributed N2,000,000 (Two Million Naira only) which was used in buying a Siena bus at the rate of N1, 850,000(One million eight  hundred and fifty).

“The balance of N150,000 (One hundred and fifty thousand) was kept with the station officer, so when the bus had a problem of exhaust and shock absorber which the Association of Mechanics in Ago-Okota estimated at N40,000 {forty thousand).

“ I then gave instruction to the station officer to give the money through the DCO to the mechanic, which he did, in the open space at the station’s compound, while somebody who was kept for fighting with the police on check point  for “not complying with the federal  government’s directive to Lagos residents to stay at home, nocturnally did a video of the scene, where the payment was made, that had no connection with his being in the station, in any way because he was already biased against the police.

“to the best of my knowledge, I’m not aware of any money being collected from anybody for whatever reason. And in all honesty, my good intention was meant to give Ago Palace way  a safe and secured environment, as the area’s Divisional Police Officer.” She emphasized.
