The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is poised to checkmate the nefarious activities of land grabbers a.k.a Omo Onile and also the growing concern over land encroachment in the State.
The NSCDC Commandant, Makinde Iskil Ayinla, disclosed this while playing host to the State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Ibrahim Akaje, at the Command’s headquarters in Ilorin over the weekend.
The Commandant, who expressed the importance of housing and the housing ministry to the security of lives and property, noted that shelter is very crucial in human lives and therefore requested the ministry to factor the paramilitary officers in the state, particularly those who are on the verge of retiring, in their housing plan.
“Housing is a critical ingredient in security of lives and property because when you have a roof over your head, you are secured. We will therefore like to appeal to your ministry to passionately look into having a housing plan for the paramilitary officers in the state, especially those who are about to retire,” the Commandant added.
The Housing Commissioner, according to NSCDC spokesman Babawale Zaid Afolabi, who assured the Commandant that their housing request would be looked into by the ministry, lauded the Corps for working assiduously in synergy with other security agencies in the state to make the state crime free, especially during this critical and trying moment of insecurity across the country.
The Commissioner, the NSCDC spokesman added, also expressed the ministry’s readiness to partner the Corps in areas of intelligence and information sharing, among others.
