LASU Says Selection Process For VC Was Transparent

By Florence Ebebe

Authorities at the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, has said that the selection process for the ninth substantive Vice Chancellor (VC) of the university was transparent exercise.

A statement issued on Wednesday by the Coordinator of the Centre for Information, Ademola Adekoya, urged stakeholders to resist efforts to undermine the ongoing process.

He appealed to the stakeholders to pray for the best candidate to emerge and support the university to attain its goal of becoming the best in the country.

The statement said: “Prof. Ninalowo does not have any grouse about a particular candidate. Regardless of his personal preferences, he cannot determine who applies for, is shortlisted, or is appointed as vice chancellor.

“A committee headed by the council chairman, representatives of the council, and the university senate, is only responsible for shortlisting, screening and interviewing applicants transparently.

“The job of the Selection Committee, however, ends with recommending three best performing candidates to the governor, who has the prerogative to appoint any of the three candidates recommended.”
