NPCP Isolo Holds Seminar To Foster Effective Local Policing

The Nigerian Policing and Community  Partnership(NPCP) on Tuesday held a seminar at the Ben Ohiku hall of Okota police station, hosted by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP Folurunsho  Gabriel; which its facilitators, CLEEN Foundation, say is intended to help Nigerian Police force to develop the capacity to effectively do local policing.

In an opening speech the chief host of the event, Mr. Folurunsho Gabriel thanked all the stakeholders present for honoring their invitations reminding them that the onerous task of effective local policing was a task for all the responsible residents of Oshodi/Isolo LGA.

The State Interaction Lead, Mr. Tosin Osasona in his own speech said that the purpose of the seminar was to help the police promote safety and corporation in the local environment where they operate.

Osasona said that the concept is intended to create a more working police by getting the public to participate in the laudable function of effectively policing their environment.

The Program Manager of CLEEN Foundation Mrs. Blessing Abiri, major fascinators of the seminar highlighted the critical issues facing our social environment, which she listed as traffic and parking nuisance, drug abuse, house-helps abuse, electricity supply and billing problem, as well as the disrespect shown members of the police force by some powerful members of the public, especially transporters.

After raising committees and appointing officials  to tackle the issues plaguing the environment, the meeting adjourned to reconvene on June 3, 2018.

Mr. Okee Sydney-Obiukwu,  Publisher of The Legend was unanimously appointed as the first Public Relations Officer of the NPCP, alongside two others.
