Peeping Into Adelaide Cottage, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s New Home?

It Is An Elegant Achitecture

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might have a new royal residence near Windsor Castle: Adelaide Cottage, a charming, historic home. A source told The Daily Mail that the Queen offered the property to the royal couple as a gift. While Palace sources have not confirmed Harry and Meghan’s new residence, let’s take a closer look at the cottage.

Adelaide Cottage is located on the grounds of Windsor Home Park, close to St. George’s Chapel where Harry and Meghan tied the knot a few months ago. Home Park is part of the Crown Estate’s 655-acre royal park, according to The Sun. The couple reportedly liked the cottage because of its privacy and proximity to London (Windsor Castle is roughly 25 miles from central London). “There are seven gated entrances and exits to Windsor Castle so the newlyweds could come and go without worrying about being photographed,” a source told The Daily Mail.

Adelaide Cottage was originally built for Queen Adelaide, the wife of King William IV, in 1831, using building materials from the Royal Lodge, according to the Royal Collection. The royal retreat has been used by a number of monarchs: Queen Victoria often visited the cottage for breakfast or tea. Another famous resident was Peter Townsend, who famously had a love affair with Princess Margaret, The Daily Mail reports.

The cottage underwent a renovation in 2015 and has some seriously elaborate decorations, according to reports. The master bedroom at the cottage reportedly has a ceiling covered with gilded dolphins and a rope decoration, which is originally from a royal yacht from the 19th century. It also has a marble Graeco-Egyptian fireplace.

Harry and Meghan currently live in Nottingham Cottage, which is on the grounds of Kensington Palace. Nottingham Cottage, which is often referred to as “Nott Cott,” is a cozy two-bedroom home where Prince Harry famously proposed while the couple was “roasting a chicken.” Kensington Palace has not yet confirmed that Harry and Meghan are moving into Adelaide Cottage, but it would no doubt make a great home for the newlyweds!
