Police Arrests Ugandan Opposition Leader, Bobi Wine

An embattled Uganda main opposition leader, Robert Ssentamu, alias as Bobi Wine has been arrested by the police.

Bobi Wine had last week enjoined Ugandans to “rise up peacefully and unarmed” in protest against President Yoweri Museveni, who have been in power as president for the East African country for nearly four decades.

According to a tweet posted on Monday on his verified Twitter handle, the musician turned politician was arrested during the protest as he led members of parliament against the torture of his supporters.

“Bobi Wine arrested as he led MPs and other leaders in a peaceful protest against the abduction, torture and murder of his supporters. The protest was taking place at City Square, Kampala. ,” the tweet stated.

Museveni won a sixth term in office in January as he got 58 percent of the vote and main challenger, Wine, who came second with 35 percent stated that the election as rigged.
