Police Stalls Shi’ites Procession In Abuja

Our Correspondent

Alert policemen had on Friday quickly dislodged the procession of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) along Bannex Plaza in Wuse, Abuja.

The Legend’s correspondent reports that the policemen had fired tear gas canisters and gunshots in the air forcing the Shi’ites and passers-by to disperse for safety.

The IMN procession which started on Sultan Abubakar Road abruptly ended after the gun shot.

The Shi’ites are believed to be planning to hold a nationwide procession on Saturday in commemoration of their annual Arbaeen trek, a move which many fear may result into another confrontation with security operatives.
