Following a challenge from self-proclaimed social media influencer Reno Omokri to supporters of Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, to provide evidence of any educational institution built during his tenure as Anambra state governor, members of the transformative ‘Obidient Movement’ quickly flooded the internet with images of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, a project initiated and completed by the former governor.
The controversy erupted when Reno Omokri questioned Peter Obi’s supporters on X, sparking a debate over his administration’s achievements in educational infrastructure.
According to reports compiled by Parallel Facts, the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, formerly known as the Anambra State University, was established on January 1, 2000, through Law No. 13 of the Anambra State University of Science and Technology. This establishment was officially published as a supplement to the Anambra State of Nigeria Official Gazette No. 8, vol. 10 of September 8, 2000.
The university, with multiple campuses spread across the state, features extensive library facilities catering to the academic needs of both students and faculty members.
These comprise the primary university library situated in Igbariam, complemented by specialized libraries like the law library in the Faculty of Law and the medical library situated within the Teaching Hospital in Amaku, Awka.
Additionally, the Uli campus accommodates another library, enhancing the educational resources accessible to students.
Following the emergence of images depicting the educational institution, Reno Omokri has begun blocking users on X who post these images as evidence.
