Sadique Abubakar of APC rejects Bauchi Gov Election Results

The All Progressive Congress governorship candidate in Bauchi State, retired Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has rejected the  governorship election results held in the state on Saturday.

He disclosed this at a news conference on Monday night in Bauchi, the state capital.

According to Abubakar, the election was marred with rigging.

The  Independent  National Electoral Commission on Monday announced Sen. Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party as winner of the election.

Mohammed, who is also the sitting governor garnered 525,280 votes to win Abubakar who polled 432,272 votes.

Abubakar said, “Our preliminary interrogation of INEC e–platforms produced evidence of unprecedented manipulation of the results in total disregard of extant electoral laws and rules.

“It is clear to us that based on what we now know, I am the clear winner of this election.

“How else can someone explain the results from Toro, Warji, Zaki, Alkaleri and Bauchi Local Government Areas, where violence led to the cancellation of results among others”.

He added the party would consult stakeholders to determine the next action on the announced election results.

He, however, appreciates residents of the state for supporting him and the party in the election and implored them to remain calm and peaceful.
