“Stop Distracting Bayelsans With Your Monumental Failures”–APC Replies Governor Dickson

Austin Oyibode, South South Bureau Chief

The leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bayelsa state has replied the state governor, Seriake Dickson over his Tuesday outburst that the opposition party cannot be trusted by the people and cannot win any elections in the state.

Governor Dickson had, on Tuesday, mocked the opposition party, the APC over alleged complicity in cases of violence and killings in the state, declaring that the APC tactics involved act of deceit, emptiness and criminality.

According to Governor Dickson, though the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will leave its doors open for any member of the APC that has a rethink and defect, the APC in Bayelsa is a party harbouring, protecting and arming criminals to kill innocent citizens and can never be entrusted with the people’s mandate.

But the Publicity Secretary of the APC, Panebi Fortune, in a statement issued via email, asked the Bayelsa state governor to focus on good governance and stop adopting distractive methods from his monumental failure in the state.

Fortune said instead of the Bayelsa governor bothering himself with his known penchant of using the repeated frivolous allegations against opposition party and failed defection of non-APC members, he should focus on good governance.

“Governor Dickson should find a way to ask God for forgiveness over his draconian and wicked reform that has left thousands of hard working Bayelsans without jobs and the monumental debt procured without commensurate development.

“For us as party, we have expressed our position, on a number of occasions, that the present administration of Governor Seriake Dickson has lost focus and bullying the people of the state with violence, intimidation and illegal arrests. The PDP under him is on his way out of Creek Haven and the people are ready to vote them out in the next election. “

The APC called on the state governor to remember that the state belongs to every indigene irrespective of party affiliation and encouraged him to empower those he appointed as aides and member of the State Express,” we ask him to empower those appointed and stop making then cry out in anguish and poverty.

“Governor Dickson should stop the ongoing mass sack as those sacked are bread winners in over 6,000 homes around the state. He should concentrate on improving the lives of the people through human capital development rather than bothering about the APC and next election. When we get to the election bridge, we will cross it. “

On the purported defection of some politicians into the PDP, the APC publicity officer noted that available facts showed that those purported to have defected are not card carrying members of the APC and are politicians bullied into relevance in a failed administration.

The APC said though they commended him for appointing more Bayelsans into his cabinet but he should know that those sacked are not second class citizens and should be left to contribute their quota in the civil service.
