I read the toxic and caustic write up under the auspice of faceless Igbo kwenu signed by one Edwin Chukwujekwu and Nonyelum Nwokoye which levelled sundry inimical accusations and allegations against Mr. Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State and the Presidential flag bearer of Labour Party in 2023 General Elections.
Undoubtedly, the piece is a product of falsehood deliberately designed to impugn the character of Mr. Peter Obi, cast aspersions on his unblemished record in Anambra State and above all vitiates his strength as a front line contender for the coveted office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
All the ten point- allegations against Peter Obi which spatial limitation will preclude serial analysis, but suffice it to say that they are trash, baseless and poorly executed mercenary job. However, Nigerians are not all that gullible not to read between the lines against the backdrop that in campaign season, such incredible lies and falsehood may be deployed as weapons by opponents who fight dirt in the political trenches.
May I ask the Chairman of the group Edwin Chukwujekwu; how much were you and your co- travellers paid to fabricate this tale by the moonlight against a man whose integrity is incontrovertible as underscored by plethora of his transactions both in social and political spaces?
Peter Obi untainted record in government is an open book for everyone who cares to read. He is exceptional in character, honour and integrity with an inspiring disposition in a country where primitive accumulation, self aggrandizement, pride and graft have become currencies for those trusted with political power in all tiers of government.
You cannot give what you do not have, Peter Obi’s distinct character while he was governor of Anambra State was neither pretentious nor grandstanding, but reflection of his true personality and proclivity.
You can’t hide avarice and dishonesty under the veneer of selflessness and transparency as an Executive Governor of a state in Nigeria with enormous powers and privileges, if your orientation is not deep seated in these noble virtues. Such veneer of deceit is unsustainable. A year is too long for its cracking and ultimate collapse!
I am not a fan of Peter Obi Presidency, but I do not like demonization of someone character in the name politics. Peter Obi is absolutely a saint in the nation political space, give it to him. He is a reference and paradigm in that dimension.
However, at this unfortunate junction in the nation socio- economic cum political ‘amakeme’ Obi Presidency will not offer the panacea for the grim challenges confronting Africa most populous nation. His selling point is lofty but Nigeria hydra headed problems demand more than that if we must be honest.
Nigeria is in dire need of a wealth creator, a bridge builder, a irrepressible logician and a visioner, futuristic with aplomb to navigate the blurred voyage of Africa most populous nation to a new destination of prosperity.
The man imbued with all these sterling qualities is Jagaban of the universe! Ahmed Bola Tinubu will rescue Nigeria, reinvents her and guarantees a novel glory which will invariably restores her pride of place in the comity of nations.
