We Want To Touch Lives, Especially The Less Privileged, Says Ambassador Elekwachi

When we do what destiny has cut-out for us to do, there is no struggle, because the interest comes from a natural disposition. And so does philanthropy and social work come as second nature to Dr. Mrs. Vivian Elekwachi, a seasoned and versatile business development consultant and the Vice President of Doctors For Children International (DFCI), an NGO, who spoke extensively with the editorial board members of The Legend about her pet project and many more of her charitable activities.

Her flagship project: Doctors for Children International, operating from its Lagos base, Nigeria, with a global reach, mainly cares for  the less privileged children in the rural and sub urban settlements in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

Mrs Elekwachi who also likes to be addressed as an ambassador, Jointly established Doctors For Children International in 2002 with her husband Dr Osundu Elekwachi, who is a medical doctor and President of the organization.

She graduated from Institute of Management & Technology (IMT), Enugu in 1997, and thereafter studied at the National Open University and Abuja University, where she graduated in 2002.

Amb. Elekwachi captures her philosophy of life thus, “the essence of life is to worship, to serve, to love, to put a smile on someone’s face and to make a mark of your existence in your generation.” She adds that, frankly speaking, this has been the life style of Amb. Vivian Elekwachi.”

She is a Board Member, Inspire To Empower Youth Ideas Foundation. (ITEYIF), board member International Human Right and Dignity Defenders Forum. (IHRADDF) and also board member of St. Jonas Orphanage Foundation (SJOF) in Abuja.

The woman of substance is equally a titled Chief in Ogun State, where she is the Iyaewe of Igan Okoto (mother of children). Elekwachi additionally serves as the National Director of National Association of Christian Pilgrims.

As a proof of Dr. Elekwachi’s philanthropic heart, so far; well over three hundred scholarships has been given by her NGO, with special consideration made for children from less privileged homes. Exercise books and other learning aids are periodically distributed to local governments across West Africa. Doctors For Children International also renders free medical treatment and distribution of free drugs to the very poor of the society.

The philanthropist says that in keeping with her destiny, “we are looking at increasing our scholarship slots targeted at brilliant but indigent children  in our schools, especially public educational institutions.

She states further that, “ in fact, it was the nagging need in my heart to give education to the poorest cadre of society, that inspired to accept to be the  South West Coordinator for Voice Of Orphans Africa and Diaspora Initiative (VOADI).

Her tireless investment in charity work has also garnered her many award, among which are Country Director; Confident Women On Edge Network International (CWOENWI), Doctor of Theology by God’s Word Theological Seminary & College of Bishops and Chaplains, an affiliate of Central Christian University, Blytheville, Arkansas, USA. 2015

She was also awarded Kingdom Ambassador by United Gospel Churches Association Of Nigeria in collaboration  with KOGA USA in 2018 and also received the Jazz for peace Ambassadorial  award by international peace Foundation at Abuja Nigeria, In reignition of her selfless service to humanity, to list just a few of such awards.
