A 40-year-old Inyangake James, has confessed to obeying a sinister voice urging him to murder his own mother, 70-year-old Mma-Offiong James Peter. The Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, revealed this unsettling revelation in a statement issued in Uyo on Monday.,

According to the police report, the tragic event unfolded around 9 a.m. on April 4th at Ikpe Annang village in the Essien Udim Local Government Area of the state, where James allegedly took his mother’s life.

In a chilling admission to law enforcement, James claimed that he succumbed to the compelling directive of a voice commanding him to “kill her, kill her.”

Expressing concern over the alarming trend of family members perpetrating such heinous acts, the state police spokesperson highlighted another grim incident involving Solomon Isaac, who was apprehended last year for the murder of his 18-year-old son.

The statement read, “The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested one Inyangake James Peter, 40 years old, for gruesomely murdering his biological mother, one Mma-Offiong James Peter, about 70 years old on 4/4/2024 at about 9:00am at Ikpe Annang Village in the Essien Udim LGA.

“The suspect, who confessed to the crime, has been transferred to the state CID for discrete investigation. The suspect on interrogation alleged that he had a voice saying ‘kill her,’ ‘kill her’ and he decided to oblige. Similarly, one Solomon Asuquo Isaac of Ikot Obok Nsit in the Nsit Ibom LGA who murdered his son, one Iboro Isaac, 18 years old, last year as a result of family misunderstanding, has been arrested.’’

The police spokesperson said that both suspects would be arraigned in court upon completion of investigation.
